When/Why did you decide to go natural?

I decided to return to my natural hair because I didn't feel myself. Relaxing my hair was guarding me from expressing my personality as I was changing myself to fit in. I returned when I was still a teenager so it was one of the wisest choices I made as I was still young so I could grow through it.

How long have you been natural & is it what you expected?

I have been embracing my natural hair for 5 years now! I thought the moment I big chopped my ringlets would return, but I didn't expect that my confidence would grow and I would learn to accept my flaws from cutting my hair. It has been a journey where I reflect and smile at who I was on the first day I cut my hair and who I am now. Those two people are very different.

What stage are you at in your natural hair journey & how did you transition? 

I'm at the stage of being happy and free with my natural hair. My hair is a crazy, curl and big 'fro that I love. Hmm, it is very soft and fluffy. Big chop all the way. It was a liberating experience.

What are some struggles your natural hair presented for you ?

Finding the right products, especially because I am from London we didn't have as much access to the really popular brands so I began using mousse and hairspray as I had no idea what I was doing.

Did you ever feel like you had to compensate for being natural?

I felt the happiest I have ever been, I didn't have to change anything about myself because it was already creating a statement on its own.

What are some words of wisdom/advice/ or inspiration you have for any one that may be considering following in your foot steps in to the natural world?
