Degree: Master’s in statistics or math

Projected Growth: 30% growth through 2028

What do they do: They take real world problems and analyze data that help business in decision making. With finding trends and relationships within collected data, they can advise business and organizational strategies. Typically their talents are applied in fields of business, health and medicine, government, physical and environmental sciences. 

2.Software Developer

Average Annual Wage: $110k

Degree: Bachelor’s Degree in Software Development, Computer Science, or Computer Programming

Projected Growth: 22% growth through 2030

What do they do: While entry level typically starts at $62k, it’s a hands-on job where the more you do, the more experience you gain. As a software developer you create, develop and test software and apps for computers and handheld counterparts. Coding and knowing different code languages like Java, Python, #C etc to design programs. An eye for detail, troubleshooting, and debugging comes with the territory too. While it’s not for everyone, most people that do this job say it’s rewarding.

3.Nurse Practitioners

Degree: Master’s Degree in Nursing

What do they do: Nurse practitioners have a very close scope of practice to a doctor. While they don’t do as much schooling as doctors, most can prescribe medicine depending on the state. Since people are living longer and there’s a shortage of physicians, there’s job security. People typically will opt to see a nurse practitioner because they’re friendlier and have shorter wait times for scheduling appointments.

What do they do: The world is reliant on tech! You can communicate with someone in seconds all the way across the Earth, information is available at your fingertips, and physical money is being used less and less. Crime is also on the rise with this convenience factor. In this role, you’d monitor the organization’s networks for breaches and investigate if any happen. You’d work on firewalls and data encryption programs. Basically, you’re the bodyguard guard for computer and network systems and you’re in demand!

5.Data Scientist

Average Annual Wage: $97k

Degree: Bachelors in Data Science or computer related field

Projected Growth: 15% growth through 2029

What do they do: At this job, you create processes for modeling data with the use of algorithms, predictive models, and data analysis. Typically, you’d work with business stakeholders by viewing the business’ needs and how they can be achieved according to the processed data. 

6.Advertising/Promotion Managers

Average Annual wage: $94k

Degree: Bachelors in Advertising or Journalism

Projected Growth: 10% growth through 2030

What do they do: Reading this, are you getting Don Draper from Mad Men vibes? Not as glamorous but this role does use advertising to increase sales. Calling for creativity, decisive decision making, and the gift of gab communication levels your days will not be dull. How to appeal to consumers is evolving. In the time of Millennials, we’re seen a transition of newspapers and commercials to influencers and social media as where to reach demographics.

7.Physician Assistants

Average Annual wage: $115k

Degree: Masters in Health Science or Nursing

Projected Growth: 31% growth through 2028

What do they do: This role doesn’t need as much schooling as a doctor. They examine patients to get info on their physical condition. They have the ability to diagnose and treat patients. And it’s also opened to many areas of medicine such as psychiatry, emergency medicine, primary, and family care.

These jobs not only have growing salaries, but strong growth with demand giving that cozy job security feeling. It’s an awful thought to gain experience and go to school for a position for it to be dissolved. I mean, even with Space X out here making eccentric billionaires astronaut dreams come true. There’s not really a need for astronauts anymore since the Cold War ended. 

These jobs are a sure way to have a solid income, and hopefully you’ll find the calling of living to work. But if not, these aren’t bad ways of working to live.
